In 1970, Sir Paul Smith opened his first fashion shop called 'Paul Smith Vetements Pour Hommes', and in 1976 Paul got his first break onto the scene with his menswear collection being unveiled in Paris, under the 'Paul Smith' Label. In 1979, Paul became the first designer to open a shop on Floral Street, Covent Garden, and in 1980, Paul changed the suit game with Georgio Armani, stating that the suit 'were something you could wear more informally'. It is also believed that Paul Smith brought the boxer short back to life, which has since been the number 1 choice of men's underwear.
Sir Paul Smith was knighted in 2000 for his contribution in British Fashion.
