When Franco first founded Moschino in 1983, he introduced a cool quirkiness to luxury men's fashion that grabbed the interest of publications and famous artists. He would later be coined the 'bad boy' in fashion. His designs did not only communicate Franco's skills, but they also used sarcastic phrases and irreverent graphics on the t-shirts and sweatshirts to make satirical manifestos about the condition of the industry. Following his flight from home at the age of 17 to the Milan Instituto Marangoni, the designer worked designing illustrations for fashion publications to make ends meet. Just three years later he began to work for the late, great Gianni Versace, a six-year adventure.
