Cristóbal Balenciaga was born in Spain in 1895. In 1917, he opened his first Haute Couture House, dubbed 'Eisa' after his mother's maiden name. Cristobal was forced to relocate to Paris, where he opened the first Balenciaga boutique in 1937. The first collection gained immediate notoriety and was favoured by the Spanish aristocracy and royal family.
Currently, Demna Gvasalia is the creative director for the Balenciaga for men collection and he combines the fashion house's original avant-garde approach with his love of streetwear to create voluminous oversized, functional garments. The collection also includes an array of lurid distressed men’s clothing with men’s Balenciaga jeans delivering bold statement pieces.
